Roundtrip Length: 8 mi Difficulty: Moderate
The tranquility and wonderful views made Finch Lake a fantastic gem of a hike and one that we will certainly return to again.
The hike begins at Finch Lake Trailhead in the Wild Basin area of Rocky Mountain National Park, located near the small communities of Meeker Park and Allenspark. We woke up before dawn and drove over 12 miles from Estes Park on Colorado Highway 7 to the Wild Basin Road Junction. After turning right, we drove another 2 miles or so on a dirt road until we reached the trailhead. If you don’t find parking here, you’ll have to park at the Wild Basin trailhead about 1,000 feet away.
