Emmy-award winning filmmaker, Nick Mollé and his
team at Nick Mollé Productions and the Rocky Mountain Channel will premiere a brand new
documentary discussing the crisis facing the Colorado River in the realm of climate change and
water scarcity.
“Stream of Conscience: the Colorado,” brings you on a journey down the Colorado River from
its headwaters in Rocky Mountain National Park to the Hoover Dam.
Throughout the film, Mollé interviews scientists and indigenous voices, and joins researchers
from the Returning Rapids Project for a river trip on the Colorado to discuss the impacts of the
Glen Canyon Dam and exacerbated water scarcity due to man-made climate change.
Experience the river firsthand as Nick Mollé and crew venture to destinations throughout the
American Southwest from Moab to Navajo Nation, including an adventure to the bottom of the
Grand Canyon and a quick stop in Vegas, among many others. Mollé and his crew explore the
complex relationship between the river and the millions of people who depend on it.
At the center of the film is a simple question: “The River is Speaking-Are We Listening?”
This is Nick Mollé’s final film featuring his original writing, directing, and narration. Nick Mollé
passed away after a brave battle with cancer on March 18, 2026.
Mollé’s crew, made up of Cinematrographers and Producers Sean Doherty, John Berry, and his
daughters and wife Claire, Lauren and Mary Beth Mollé say they will continue producing Nick
Mollé films in his vision and legacy.
“We have some big shoes to fill, but we have to keep our eye on the gift of responsibility that
has been left for us to take on,” said Co-Director and Mollé’s daughter, Claire Mollé. “My dad
dedicated his life to conservation through education. His on-screen charisma and the poetic
prose of his writing are irreplaceable, but this team has spent decades learning from him

firsthand, and we feel a duty to keep his voice alive. We are committed to producing Nick Mollé
films in his name and carrying his vision forward for many years to come.”
The Premiere
The film is scheduled to premiere for its public debut at the Historic Park Theatre in Estes Park,
Colorado on Monday, September 28, 2026 at 7 pm. The film will then be screened at theaters
across the region before being distributed nationally on PBS stations across the country in the
spring of 2027.
Nick Mollé Productions and the Rocky Mountain Channel has begun plans on a sequel to
“Stream of Conscience: the Colorado,” that will continue the story of the Colorado River from
Lake Mead to Mexico, where it almost makes it to the Gulf of California.
The next film will continue Mollé’s exploration of the river’s changing landscape and the
communities, ecosystems and landscapes whose futures are tied to its survival.
